Research and Scholarly Inquiry

BMCC is dedicated to promoting research and scholarly activity among its faculty and students. As part of its strategic plan, BMCC is expanding efforts in training and support of faculty and student researchers. In the STEM fields, student researchers engage in faculty mentored scientific research. These studies are conducted in our core research laboratories which are fully equipped to engage students in a number of disciplines including biological sciences, engineering sciences, chemistry and physics.

Student and Faculty Research

Students have the opportunity to work with faculty on a wide variety of research. There are specific research oriented programs that BMCC students can join, such as:

For students currently in high school, we offer the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) for High School Students.

BARS Annual Research Symposium

The BMCC Annual Research Symposium (BARS) provides an opportunity for students to present their projects. Mentored by faculty, students showcase their work in poster presentations.

Research Facilities

There are two separate tissue culture rooms; microscopy, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, organic synthesis, robotics, zoology, plant physiology, neuroscience, vibrational spectroscopy and other basic scientific research.

Our social science lab is a multidisciplinary space which houses computer stations for data analysis, focus group space, interview space and audio/video equipment. Additionally, the lab houses equipment for experiments on visual attention, learning and memory.
