Grant Submissions

Before submission of any grant (CUNY, Federal or Foundation grants), all faculty must complete a “Notice of Intent to Submit” Form. This form and the Conflict of Interest must be submitted electronically in order to receive the necessary signatures.

The Notice of Intent MUST include (a draft of) your grant proposal, your budget and the budget justification.

Please complete this process 10 days before the proposal deadline so that any issues can be addressed before the submission deadline.

IRB Approval for Research with Human Subjects

If you intend to conduct a study that involves human subjects (including students, faculty and/or staff) AND you intend to publish the findings you must FIRST obtain Internal Review Board (IRB) approval. To start a new IRB application please log on to and log on with your CUNY Portal Credentials.

CITI Program Training Modules

Please note that all researchers must complete CITI Program training modules for the Responsible Conduct of Research and Protection of Human Subjects. All faculty and staff that need guidance with the IRB approval process should contact the BMCC Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) Coordinator. Further information is available at
