Study Abroad
BMCC offers 3-credit summer study abroad courses in countries around the world. Students who are selected to participate will travel with a BMCC professor and a small group of students for 2 – 4 weeks. Courses are open to all majors and may be taught in English or the local language. Eligible students receive the BMCC Association Scholarship to help fund this opportunity. Black Studies Across the Americas
The Office of Internships and Experiential Learning has partnered with BMCC’s Department of Ethnic and Race Studies to create Black Studies Across the Americas with the support of BMCC’s President’s Fund for Excellence and Innovation, and the CUNY-wide Black, Race and Ethnic Studies Initiative.
The goal of the program is to enhance Black Studies in Ethnic and Race Studies courses, as well as academic fields where Ethnic and Race Studies are not typically represented. Students work with faculty mentors to complete research projects in Black Studies and create educational outcomes that will benefit their respective communities. Cohorts work remotely with institutions and community leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean to complete research projects. Visit the link above to see lesson plans and projects.
Global Scholars Achieving Career Success
BMCC is currently participating in Global Scholars Achieving Career Success, a 2-year virtual exchange initiative where students and faculty from 5 CUNY schools and 4 universities in the Middle East and North Africa examine how UN Sustainable Development Goals affect their communities. Led by LaGuardia Community College, other partners include Abdelmalek Essaâdi University (Morocco), the American University of Cairo, Guttman Community College, Hostos Community College, Jordan University of Science & Technology, Palestine Ahliya University and Queens College.
