Mission and Goals

Our Mission

The Office of Internships and Experiential Learning (IEL) designs new initiatives and leverages existing institutional resources to increase student engagement, retention and transfer through a diverse portfolio of experiential learning opportunities pursuant to the mission of the Borough of Manhattan Community College. In this role, IEL works to educate students and industry partners while providing expertise, guidance and support to both academic departments and student support services regarding policy, procedures and program structure for high quality experiential and applied learning.

Our Goals

  • Engage students, the BMCC community and industry partners to increase overall student participation in experiential learning.
  • Provide guidance, expertise and support to the College, academic and support units to build new experiential learning opportunities.
  • Provide guidance, expertise and support for internal and external partners to mitigate risk and ensure program quality and oversight.
