Resources for Students

Adult Career and Continuing Education Services- Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR): ACCES-VR offers access to a full range of employment and independent living services that may be needed by persons with disabilities through their lives.

Beyond the Limits: A co-curricular club offering students with differing abilities the unique opportunity to socialize in a tri-fold manner.

Counseling Center: A safe space for students to explore difficulties and understand what is keeping them from their goals. Counselors help students discuss their concerns and facilitate the removal of obstacles keeping them from reaching their goals.

CUNY LEADS: LEADS (Linking Employment, Academics and Disability Services) is a unique program of the City University of New York created to provide students with disabilities the skills to make realistic academic and career choices that will result in successful career outcomes.

CUNY Project REACH:
A project developed at City University of New York (CUNY) to build capacity to better serve the growing population of college students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

Disability.gov: Provides one-stop online access to resources, services, and information available throughout the Federal government. Created by the Presidential Task Force on Employment of Adults with Disabilities.

Department of Education: The U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil rights offers helpful information regarding the rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities as they prepare for post-secondary education.

Learning Resource Center: The Learning Resource Center (LRC) offers support services to strengthen academic skills and meet learning needs. The LRC is located in room S-510 and all services are available free of charge to registered BMCC students.

Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD): The Office provides information on accessible programs, accessible transportation, employment, health services, activities and other resources.

Online Tutoring: Online tutoring provides students with free, live online tutoring sessions from anywhere they have internet access.

Psychoeducational Evaluations: Issued by the CUNY Council on Student Disability Issues, this resource is a partial list of sites providing psychoeducational evaluations in the New York metropolitan area.

Voter Registration: The Office of Accessibility is a New York State Agency-Based Voter Registration Site, where students with disabilities are offered information, voter registration application forms and the opportunity to register to vote. We will be glad to help you fill out the form or provide assistance registering through CUNYFirst. There is no obligation to register to vote and the student’s decision will have no effect on services offered by the Office of Accessibility.
Voter registration information and application forms are also available at the State Board of Elections of the State of New York.
