Application and Requirements

Applying to ASAP is simple…

  • Be accepted to BMCC and complete all admission requirements
  • Apply to ASAP

As an ASAP student you will be required to:

  • Be full-time (registered for 12 credit hours or more)
  • Meet with your academic advisor twice a month
  • Attend workshops and tutoring as required
  • Complete all developmental Math and/or English courses within first two semesters

Day and Evening Programs available

  • Be accepted to BMCC
  • Complete the financial aid documents:
    • Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
    • Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
    • Students who don’t qualify for financial aid must submit an Affidavit of Tuition Payment form.You must indicate BMCC as the primary college on both Financial Aid applications. BMCC FAFSA school code (002691) BMCC TAP school code (1404)
  • Complete all admission requirements:

    Student with more than 21 earned credits are not eligible for ASAP

  • Apply to ASAP

If you are an ASAP student at another college contact your current ASAP advisor for information on internal ASAP-to-ASAP program transfer. Do not submit the BMCC ASAP application.

  • Complete the financial aid documents:
  • Complete residency and receive New York City tuition rate. Students living in New York State but not New York City must submit a B-81 form to receive in-city tuition rate
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Student with more than 21 earned credits are not eligible for ASAP
  • Apply to ASAP

Students who were previously in ASAP at BMCC and are interested in returning to the program must contact their ASAP advisor for information on the return process. If you are unable to contact your advisor, contact Kristin Bennett, Associate Director of Advisement, at kbennett@bmcc.cuny.edu. Returning students should not submit a BMCC ASAP application. This application should only be used if a student is new to the program.

Students currently or formerly enrolled in ASAP at another CUNY college who wish to transfer to BMCC’s ASAP program must speak with their advisor and coordinate with them to submit an Intra-ASAP Relocation Request. Please note that Intra-ASAP relocation requests are not guaranteed and require approval from BMCC ASAP, with decisions made within 7 business days of receipt of the request. For the Fall semester, requests are reviewed until the semester begins or program capacity is reached. The same deadline applies for the Spring semester. Relocating students should not use the regular BMCC ASAP application, as this is only for students new to the program. To be eligible for program relocation, students must:

  • Be pursuing an ASAP-approved major. BMCC accepts all majors except Nursing/Undeclared Health, EMT, RTT, or students taking Nursing pre-requisite courses
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Not be enrolled in another academic success program
  • Commit to graduating within three years

Students may be eligible for a cohort restart if they have no more than 21 credits and have used less than three semesters of financial aid
