Spring 2024 Adjunct Health Insurance Enrollment applications must be received by Friday, February 23, 2024.***

 ***If you currently have Adjunct Health Benefits, no additional action is needed to maintain coverage.

Medical insurance will be effective February 1, 2024. You may click on the Medical Insurance and PSC Welfare Fund links to retrieve a summary of the offered benefits.  The Adjunct Enrollment Packet must be returned (Monthly Adjunct rates).

The requirements are as follows:

  1. Teaching Adjuncts: Must have completed adjunct instruction within CUNY in the two consecutive semesters (Spring & Fall) immediately preceding the semester in which he/she is applying. Teaching Adjuncts must work and maintain at least 6 teaching hours per week in the semester that he/she is applying, and thereafter, for continued coverage.

 

  1. Non-Teaching Adjuncts:Must have completed the two consecutive semesters (Spring & Fall) immediately preceding the semester in which he/she is applying with at least 15 non-teaching hours per week. Non-teaching Adjuncts must work at least 15 non-teaching hours per week in the semester that he/she is applying, and thereafter, for continued coverage.

NOTE:

  • Both teaching and non-teaching Adjuncts must maintain the minimum number of hours required for the full semester to ensure the continuation of health insurance coverage.
  • If you enroll for coverage through BMCC and at a future date you drop below the required 6 hours at BMCC and subsequently pick up hours at a different campus, you must notify the benefit officers at each campus that you teach in.
  • For those whose spring semester is their first semester in the program, coverage terminates the last day of July. Continued coverage is available through purchase provisions under COBRA and reenrollment in the program in Fall.

If you are interested in applying and meet the criteria above, you may complete and submit the attached application to ddonald@bmcc.cuny.edu. Since these applications are being submitted electronically, they need to be submitted as secure documents. Do not include your entire social security number. Instead, put the last four digits of your SSN. Once your eligibility is confirmed, the application will be forwarded to the University Benefits Adjunct office for processing. After enrollment, adjuncts may receive correspondence directly from the University Benefits Adjuncts Office email address, UniversityBenefitsAdjuncts@CUNY.edu.
