The BMCC Honors Scholars Program, implemented in 2017, follows best practices from nationwide honors programs. Search for Honors courses by using CUNY’s “Global Search” option.
Mission Statement
The BMCC Honors Scholar Program enriches personal and academic growth through course offerings and co-curricular experiences for a diverse and inclusive, high achieving community of students. Honors Scholars are empowered through curriculum challenges to apply analytical skills and research capabilities using an interdisciplinary approach. Scholars develop advanced written and oral communication skills, leadership abilities, and global perspectives. The program is accessible to all majors and prepares students for successful transfer to highly selective four-year institutions and rewarding careers.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- Research, analyze, and interpret critical topics across disciplines using a variety of scholarly resources.
- Write, speak, and use other communication techniques about topics from academic, scholarly, and disciplinary contexts.
- Collaborate and work effectively in diverse professional settings, (e.g., internships, apprenticeships, team initiatives, in-person and telecommuting professional options, group projects, etc.
- Demonstrate an ability and commitment to work and participate in interconnected, interdependent global/local community structures to achieve a civic aim.
