If accepted into the Out in Two Scholarship Program, you must:
- attend New Scholars Orientation after being accepted.
- complete all basic skills requirements, if applicable, as early as possible.
- create and follow a graduation plan, working with your Out in Two academic advisor.
- graduate within 2 years from your 1st semester of entry into BMCC.
- maintain a minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 3.000 throughout the Program.
- participate in academic support services, if needed.
- enroll in FYE 200 during your 2nd and final semester in the Program.
- engage in community service each semester.
- check-in with your Out in Two academic advisor each month.
- complete an exit survey during your final month at BMCC.
Recommended Supplemental Activities
To make the most of your time in the Out in Two Scholarship Program, we strongly recommend that you complete the career development activities below in addition to these transfer planning steps.
First Semester in Program
- Conduct research in your desired career field(s) using Career Coach, the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, and the Career Maps located in your academic program’s page.
- Contact your Out in Two Advisor to take the Strong Interest Inventory and/or CliftonStrengths for Students assessment.
- Look into potential internships and experiential learning opportunities.
Second Semester in Program
- Meet with a professor within your discipline to gain insight into your field.
- Attend Center for Career Development workshops to create a resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile and to practice your elevator pitch, interviewing, and writing thank you letters.
Third and Final Semester in Program
- Participate in an internship or experiential learning opportunity.
- Actively network at the Job Fair.
