The Counseling Center offers a variety of groups and workshops to BMCC students. Meeting with a counselor as part of a small group of students presents a unique opportunity to learn and grow. Not only will you be able to ask questions and discuss your own concerns, you will learn by hearing what other students have to say.
What’s the difference between a group and a workshop?
Groups are comprised of 5-9 students and each group meets for 6-8 sessions throughout the semester. Goup members are pre-screened to ensure that a particular group is right for them. Groups are designed to be a safe, confidential space for students to discuss things.

Workshops are open to all students and vary in size. There is generally a presentation given by one of our counselors, followed by discussion.

Do I have to choose between a group and a workshop?
You don’t have to choose. You can attend as many workshops as you want. As far as groups, since it is a smaller, more therapeutic setting, you do have to be pre-screened by the Counseling Department. If you have any questions about which group or workshop is right for you, contact us.
