Counseling Services

What if I Don’t Need Counseling?

Our counseling services are part of the College Discovery (CD) package. We want to make sure we are able to help you with any issues–personal, family, health, financial, etc.–that might hold you back from doing your best at BMCC. Even if you don’t have any issues to discuss, we like to keep in touch with you to offer support.

Studies show that students who have the option of counseling services do better than those who don’t. We want to make sure you have every advantage to help you succeed.

How Often Do I See My Counselor?

All CD students are assigned one of six counselors. Students must meet with their assigned counselor on a regular basis.

  • First year students are expected to schedule an appointment with their assigned counselor at least three times during the semester.
  • Continuing students should schedule at least two visits each semester.
  • You can schedule more appointments as needed.

How Do I Set Up Appointments With My Counselor?

There are several wasy to make an appointment to meet with your counselor. You can stop by the front desk of the College Discovery Center (199 Chambers St., room S-335) to set up an appointment. You may also contact your counselor by telephone, or through email (remember to identify your name in the subject line of the email message).
