Project Impact @ BMCC empowers current and prospective BMCC students impacted by the criminal legal system to achieve academic and personal success through higher education. Recognizing the strength and resilience of those with lived experience or potential risk of criminal legal system involvement, we provide comprehensive academic and support services, basic needs assistance, and peer mentorship, to navigate the complexities of higher education and foster belonging in college.
Project Impact @ BMCC’s vibrant community comprises individuals dedicated to their education, despite facing systemic barriers because of system-involvement, whether personally experienced or. impacting a family member or loved one. We celebrate their determination and offer a safe space for students to connect, learn, and champion each other’s goals. This support includes community and skill building experiences, group trips, and individualized support.
Project Impact @ BMCC services are confidential. The information you disclose to our program staff or peer mentors will not be repeated. The program strives to provide a confidential and safe space.

Eligibility
- Be a current or prospective BMCC, associate degree- or certificate-seeking student
- Be impacted by the criminal legal system*
- Attend an in-person orientation and onboarding meeting with Project Impact @ BMCC staff
