Attendance
- Students are expected to regularly attend STEP CLASSES and/or research.
- Regular attendance means students have no more than 3 absences during the program session.
- Students with more than 3 unreported absences risk of forfeiting their STEP seat
Arrivals
- STEP Fridays begin at 3 p.m. (Doors open at 3 p.m. Classes run from 4-7 p.m.
Attendance is mandatory- Students must present picture ID and wear STEP nametags to enter BMCC Buildings.
- If lost, new nametags can be requested at: bmccstep@gmail.com.
- Students must sign-in upon entry for attendance and must sign for receipt of meal tickets and metrocards.
Absences and Lateness
- Students are expected to arrive:
- at STEP Friday classes in room N-451 by 3:45 p.m. (for 4 p.m. class start).
- When possible, students are asked to provide notice of any intended lateness or absence.
- Absence and lateness notices can be filed using the BMCC STEP Absence Report Form at: https://goo.gl/rN8A8w or call the office at (212) 220-8000, ext. 5059.

Nametags
- Students must wear STEP nametags to enter and while on the BMCC campus.
- Nametags will be provided prior to or on the 1st day of student’s attendance. If lost, new nametags can be requested at: bmccstep@gmail.com.
Campus and classroom behavior
- Students are expected to follow all rules and guidelines established by STEP staff and to treat all BMCC staff with courtesy and respect.
- Students are not allowed to leave campus during program hours (unless during the lunch period to get lunch see Meals/Lunch Hour.
- Failure to follow STEP staff and/or instructor directions will result in an initial warning. Continued failure to follow instructions can result in potential restriction from STEP activities and/or the risk of forfeiting you STEP seat.
Lunch: Meal Tickets
- Students will receive a $6.50 meal ticket to be used in the BMCC cafeteria.
- Students must sign to receive a meal ticket (for reporting purposes).
- The meal ticket covers the cost a full hot meal and drink in the cafeteria. If the final bill exceeds the meal ticket amount, students are responsible for paying the balance.
Lunch: Bringing Own
- Students may also choose to bring their own meals/snacks.
- There is no storage or refrigeration equipment for students to store food/drinks.
Lunch: At local eateries

- Students may also purchase meals at local eateries near campus prior to arrival. students may not leave campus during program hours.

Metrocards
- Students will be provided with roundtrip or weekly metrocards (depending on type availability).
- Students must sign to receive a metrocard (for reporting purposes).
- Students are responsible for their own travel to and from BMCC’s campus.
