The Science Department offers A.S. degree programs in trending STEM fields such as Science (SCI), Science for Forensics (FSC), Biotechnology (BTE), Engineering Science (ESC) and Science for Health (SHP). Additional courses are available in Astronomy, Geology and Physics.
Biotechnology Science
The Science Department offers an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Biotechnology Science. Biotechnology requires an understanding of the life and physical sciences, and the A.S. in Biotechnology Science curriculum includes lower division courses in biology, chemistry, arts and humanities that will enable students to transfer to upper division bachelor’s degree programs in Biotechnology or in the Biological Sciences.
Engineering Science
The Science Department offers an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program in Engineering Science. The program provides students with the basic education necessary to enter the third year of an engineering major in a four year college, leading to careers for chemical, mechanical, civil, electrical, computer and other engineering specializations. The curriculum includes courses in the physical sciences, computer methods and mathematics, as well as the liberal arts courses required in engineering programs.

The Science Department offers a Science program leading to an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree, with a biology, chemistry or physics concentration This program is appropriate for students whose educational goals require a foundation in basic or applied science.
Science for Forensics
The Science Department offers an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program in Science for Forensics which is a joint degree with the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. At BMCC, students complete the A.S. in Science for Forensics degree. Students complete the upper division courses to earn the B.S. in Forensic Science at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The major in Forensic Science is designed to provide academic and professional training for students seeking to work in forensic science laboratories as either researchers or administrators. program with the B.S. in Forensic Science Program at John Jay.
Science for Health
The Science Department offers an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Science for Health to prepare students to transfer to bachelor’s degree programs leading to careers in practitioner professions, working as dieticians, nutritionists and exercise practitioners, or for baccalaureate or accelerated nursing programs.
Research Opportunities
Many faculty are engaged in active research at BMCC and students are able to work closely with professors to obtain an independent research experience. Students have opportunities to present their research at the annual BARS Symposium as well as other venues.
Health Sciences
The BMCC Science Department offers courses for students interested in pursuing Nursing and Allied health Sciences such as Respiratory Therapy, Health Information Technology and Paramedic.
Science Courses for Non-Science Majors
Courses are offered for non-science majors to fulfill their degree requirements. BMCC has student support services providing free tutoring and other support. Whether a student is planning to transfer to a four-year school or to complete their studies at BMCC, the Science Department offers courses and activities to help.
Science Clubs
Science Clubs available to students include the Neuroscience Club, the Pre-Med Club, the Research and Nature Club, the Robotics Club and the Astro Club.
