The following software is available in the computer labs in the Learning Resource Center:

Adobe Creative Cloud is a robust suite of applications for students of Multimedia Arts and Programming, Graphic Design, and Video Arts Technology. Using powerful new features and tools of the applications will expand your creative freedom and enhance your productivity for multimedia, print, and Web formats of the highest quality for all contemporary media.

In Acrobat Distiller, you can select settings used to convert documents to PDFs, security options, and font information. You also use the Acrobat Distiller window to monitor the jobs you’ve lined up for PDF conversion.

Adobe Acrobat X Pro is the premier development platform for creating rich Portable Document Files (.pdf). PDF documents can be created from Microsoft Word, digital images, and other Adobe Creative Cloud/Suite applications using the installed Adobe PDF Printer Driver, scanning, or importing files. Documents and forms can also be created from scratch through integrated document and form editing tools for multimedia, print, and Web formats of the highest quality for all contemporary media.

Audacity provides you with a full set of tools that you can use to edit audio files and add effects through a clear and accessible interface. Users of all experience levels will benefit from this app’s intuitive interface and nice list of features.

Students in Video Arts Technology (VAT) can through the use of templates formulate media rich scripts, storyboards, scenes, and other required elements of video production.

Java Development kit features improved cohesive tools that enriches student developer output and gainful performance of applications.

JCreator is a powerful IDE for Java. JCreator provides the user with a wide range of functionality such as project management, project templates, code-completion, debugger interface, editor with syntax highlighting, wizards and a fully customizable user interface. With JCreator you can directly compile or run your Java program without activating the main document first. JCreator will automatically find the file with the main method or the html file holding the java applet, then it will start the appropriate tool.

JGRASP is a comprehensive suite of utilities gives student programmers visual representations of major components related to Java code. The powerful features of JGRASP helps to improve the comprehensibility of source code. Visual diagrams of Java, C, C++, Python, Objective-C, Ada, and VHDL source code through clear illustrations of program code, class relationships, visual debugging and much more.

Microsoft Office and Office 365 encompasses applications for developing databases (Access), documents (Word), spreadsheets (Excel) and presentations (PowerPoint). The suite features improved copy and pasting functionality plus image and video imaging tools to simplify document creation.

Maple software is designed for today’s mathematics students in various academic concentrations. A primary benefit of using Maple is its ability to reduce learning curves for mathematical concepts significantly through its intuitive design and powerful mathematical computation engine. Problems are solved quickly and accurately.

Solve complex technical computing problems in engineering, science, and math. Engineers, scientists, and mathematicians at the world’s leading universities, technology companies, and government labs use MATLAB and Simulink to solve their most challenging technical computing problems. Now you can use these same products to complete your course work in electrical, mechanical, and chemical engineering; mathematics; physics; chemistry; finance; economics; and the life sciences.

Notepad++ is a free replacement for Windows’ notepad. The software offers multiple language support, syntax highlighting, built-in auto-completion, word-completion, and function-completion facilities, multiple views and much more.

Learn how to use PDFCreator to create PDFs from any application and get an idea of the powerful features:

  • Use auto-save to store a file without interaction
  • Customize the output path with tokens like DateTime
  • Print a carbon copy on a physical printer
  • Manage PDFCreator profiles for different tasks

This software teaches students how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Access. Trainees learn Office in an interactive and realistic environment. There are several benefits of the training given. Most notably, learning how to organize classwork and produce attention grabbing presentations.

Python on a Macintosh running Mac OS X is in principle very similar to Python on any other Unix platform, but there are a number of additional features such as the IDE and the Package Manager that are worth pointing out.

From its 3D object based graphical modeling environment to the wide variety of analysis and design options completely integrated across one powerful user interface, SAP2000 has proven to be the most integrated, productive and practical general purpose structural program on the market today. This intuitive interface allows you to create structural models rapidly and intuitively without long learning curve delays.

Stellarium shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope. It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go.

Sublime Text is a sophisticated text editor for code, markup and prose.
