BMCC President Anthony E. Munroe

I hope you are all continuing to stay safe and healthy as we continue moving forward this semester.

I would like to announce that Erwin J. Wong has been named BMCC’s Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective May 3, 2021.

He has been serving as the College’s “Acting” Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, since 2018. As the college’s chief academic officer, he has continued to provide leadership and guidance for the creation and implementation of the academic priorities for the college and for the allocation of resources that will support those priorities.

He will continue working closely with the academic deans, department heads, student services professionals, faculty and staff to provide the highest possible quality of educational programs, both within and outside the classroom, for our students. An important part of his responsibilities is also to ensure that we recruit, retain, encourage and support an outstanding and diverse faculty; each of whom will make positive contributions to the college and to their discipline in the areas of teaching, scholarship and service.

He earned a Ph.D. in English from Stony Brook University, SUNY, where he specialized in the 16th-Century, 17th-Century and Modern Drama. He also received an M.A. in English from Stony Brook University, SUNY and earned a B.A. in English from Brooklyn College, CUNY.

I am happy to have Dr. Wong serve in this capacity, to help enhance BMCC as an institution of higher learning.

Sincerely,

Anthony E. Munroe signature
