Welcome to Borough of Manhattan Community College! As we enter the Spring 2024 semester, I’d like to welcome you to our college and thank you for entrusting your educational needs to us. We are honored to have you here and look forward to a longstanding relationship. Your decision to pursue higher education will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on your future and we are thrilled that you have selected BMCC to be a part of your journey.
As president of BMCC, I know firsthand the transformative effect that education has in shaping lives. Our goal at BMCC is to create pathways that will provide you with limitless opportunities. Our motto, “Start Here. Go Anywhere,” serves as our mantra. It reflects our confidence in our students’ ability to aim high and to soar. Throughout the years, we have continuously evolved to meet the ever-changing needs of our students, most of whom are from non-traditional backgrounds. We stand committed to advancing equity and promoting intellectual and professional growth.
Whether you are a new or returning student, BMCC has many opportunities to foster your development. There are over 60 subject areas to choose from that lead to an associate degree, continuing education courses that will allow you to be more competitive in today’s job market, and partnership agreements with some of the most prestigious senior colleges in the United States, to help you earn your bachelor’s degree.
You will find that our dedicated faculty and staff will be instrumental in your success. They will provide you with guidance and direction as you make important life decisions and carve your own paths. We have support systems and resources, including mentoring and counseling services, available to make the transition to college and college life easier to navigate. The College experience would not be complete without our diverse students; your fellow classmates. You will create lasting memories and form lifelong friendships with some of these individuals that will enhance your time here at BMCC.
As you work towards completing your degree, know that we are routing for you. Finding a balance between attending college and managing life’s challenges and day-to-day responsibilities can be very overwhelming. We have a food pantry and free childcare services available to assist students in need. I encourage you to explore the opportunitiesthat BMCC has to offer. From our state-of-the-art computer labs to free tutoring services (do it early and use it often as it has been proven to improve grades), from our learning resource center, counseling center and wide range of student clubs to our career services, leadership programs, writing and math labs, honor societies, internship programs, scholarships, and much more, we are here to support you as you embark upon this journey.
