On Monday, December 2 in the Shirley Fiterman Art Center (SFAC) at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY), the Office of Academic Affairs hosted a reception honoring more than 70 faculty and staff members who received grants for their research, programs, to complete their books and other projects.
The funders are city, state and national agencies, as well as nonprofits and other organizations. They include the Professional Staff Congress-The City University of New York (PSC-CUNY), American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), The Far Fund, Pinkerton Foundation, The Teagle Foundation, New York State Education Department (NYSED), National Science Foundation (NSF), United States Education Department, IBM, The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, Capital One Foundation, Rutgers University, New York City Human Resources Administration (NYCHRA), The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, Project Impact and Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.
Speakers at the reception included Siddharth Ramakrishnan, director of research, academic affairs; Karrin E. Wilks, interim president; Erwin Wong, acting provost and senior vice president and Jim Berg, associate dean of faculty, academic affairs.
“Staff and faculty at BMCC sought and received grants related to their programs and disciplines as well as to teaching and student success,” said Berg. “The variety and depth of the grants earned is a testament to the great faculty and staff at the college.”
