BMCC Student Named Gates Millennium Scholar 09/12/00

Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) student Nguyen (Wayne) Khuu, has been named a Gates Millennium Scholar for the 2000-2001 academic year.

Khuu was selected for the inaugural class of Gates Millennium Scholars from among 62,000 applicants nationwide. The Gates Millennium Scholarship Program, created by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation recognizes hardworking, high-achieving students from low-income, minority families.

Khuu graduated from Borough of Manhattan Community College in spring 2000 with an A.S. degree in computer science. He is continuing his studies toward his bachelor»s degree in computer science at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn while working part-time in the computer science laboratory at Borough of Manhattan Community College.

Scholar lives in Flushing, New York.

Nguyen Khuu currently lives in Flushing, New York. His parents live in Vietnam, where Khuu was born and raised.
