Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025: Its Role, Priorities, and Regional Impact 

Amir Farid Abu Hasan currently serves as the Consul General of Malaysia in New York, where he is dedicated to strengthening Malaysia’s presence in one of the world’s most influential cities. His work centers on fostering cultural, economic, and diplomatic ties between Malaysia and the United States, enhancing bilateral relations in key areas such as trade, investment, and community engagement.

In addition to his consular duties, Amir holds the prestigious role of President of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York (2024/25), where he leads a diverse diplomatic corps to promote collaboration among consulates and strengthen ties with the city. His leadership has been instrumental in addressing shared challenges and advancing diplomatic cooperation.
