Women's Herstory Month The Power of the Intentional Woman Past, Present and Future

You are cordially invited to join us in honoring Women’s Herstory Month and celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Women’s Resource Center, as the department had its milestone last year in 2023. This special event will offer food, drinks, giveaways, and a book signing, along with some surprises! We’re thrilled to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be the talented Robyn Greer, an award-winning author, marathon runner, and successful entrepreneur. Her speech promises to be both uplifting and thought-provoking, as she shares insights on the power of intentionality in achieving personal growth.

Our theme this year is deeply personal, resonating with today’s women on multiple levels. It encourages them to embrace forward-thinking strategies when navigating their paths to success. No longer is it enough to simply play nice and maintain optimism; women like Greer must now take deliberate steps to assess their progress and strategically plan their next moves. Despite starting each day with gratitude, Greer understands the importance of hitting the ground running, recognizing that life is more akin to a game of chess than checkers.

There is power in being an intentional woman because we are in full BLOOM for Women’s Herstory Month 2024!

About Keynote Speaker Robyn Greer
A Pittsburgh Native, Ms. Robyn Greer is an entrepreneur, nutritionist, marathon runner, powerlifter competitor, award winning author and owner of The BLOOM brand. Her claim to fame started as a hairstylist. Now, as a Master Hair Artist/Stylist for over thirty years, she has been the go-to professional to slay hair as owner and operator of five salons. Because of her knowledge and passion, Ms. Greer is routinely tapped to educate up-and-coming stylists at local Pittsburgh Cosmetology Programs. She is truly all things BLOOM. In April 2024, Ms. Greer will add certified dog grooming to her lengthy list of accomplishments. Though she positively is almost intoxicating, and she is known for all things BLOOM, she has had her fair share of thorns.

On July 23, 2007, her life would be forever changed. Ms. Greer’s first-born son, Trevor James Greer, was murdered on the streets of Pittsburgh at the tender age of 18 years old. That dark moment was a pivotal time of self-discovery. With the support of her parents, family, and friends over time she began to BLOOM. Because of Trevor’s passing, Ms. Greer’s passion to help others heal from the inside out has grown. Ms. Greer is actively involved in a Women’s group named “The Mosts”, which helps women heal from the loss of a child through gun violence. Her publications “Infected by life” and “BLOOMING WITH LIFE” have helped others.

As a result of the pandemic and wanting to keep Pittsburgh residents as healthy as possible, Ms. Greer used her nutrition skills to create a line of all natural and organic products. Simultaneously, she is curating BLOOM organic hair and body care. Since that time, The BLOOM brand has taken on a life of its own. She states, “I wanted to create natural and vegan products that healed from the inside and out. This was the time to do it.” Her motto is “BLOOM means to grow.” This is exactly what “BLOOM ” is doing. She is proud to be passing this entrepreneur torch to her young son Jelani, where he too will continue the legacy of BLOOMING.
