The BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center (BMCC TPAC) is proud to present the final concert in its Jazz in Progress: The Next Faces of Jazz series, featuring finalists from the DC Jazz Festival’s DCJazzPrix emerging band competition.
SULA, a NYC-based crossover jazz group led by drummer Diego Joaquin Ramirez, will perform on Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, 199 Chambers Street, between Greenwich and West Street.
Sula, which was a finalist in the 2017 DC Jazz Prix Competition, features Michael Mayo on vocals, Caili O’Doherty on piano, Diego Joaquin Ramirez on drums, Tamir Shmerling on bass, Wayne Tucker on trumpet and Asaf Yuria on sax. Sula’s members have performed and recorded with musicians including Taylor Swift, Terri Lyne Carrington, Jimmy Cobb, Vijay Iyer, Mike Stern, Adam Cruz and Nate Smith.

Jazz in Progress: The Next Faces of Jazz is a partnership between BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center and the DC Jazz Festival.
DCJazzPrix, part of DC Jazz Fest, is a global competition that supports top-rising jazz band talent, and helps launch and promote the careers of emerging jazz ensembles.
