Dear BMCC Community,

I am pleased to announce that Tiffany James has been appointed to serve as the Interim Dean for Student Affairs, effective immediately. This appointment fills the vacancy left by Dr. Michael Hutmaker, who recently resigned.
Over the past 15 years at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), Ms. James has held a variety of roles within the Division of Student Affairs. She currently serves as the Principal Investigator on the Conexiones Title V grant, leading a team focused on improving retention for Latino males and low-income students. Ms. James also supports non-traditional students who previously stopped out of BMCC and have returned through the Petrie Commit to Complete program.
In addition, she and her team have expanded services for immigrant students, including support for the Jose Peralta New York State DREAM Act and the Dream.US scholarship. She collaborates across divisions, working with the Academic Advisement and Transfer Center to lead transfer success initiatives and provide targeted support for students on Academic Notice.
A proud BMCC alum, Ms. James is currently completing her Doctor of Education at the College of Staten Island. She earned a Master of Arts in English from Brooklyn College and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Stanford University.
Ms. Tiffany James is a passionate advocate for student success, and we are excited to welcome her as our new Interim Dean for Student Affairs.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony E. Munroe
President, Borough of Manhattan Community College
