Easter

Dear BMCC Community,

Easter will be observed on Sunday, April 20, 2025. For Christians, Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and is a joyful conclusion to the Lenten season of devoted prayer, fasting, and penitence.

For many people, irrespective of faith or religious affiliation, Easter represents a time of renewal, hope, and reflection. It symbolizes overcoming adversity, finding light in the darkest hours, and emerging stronger than ever before.

In a world that can often feel fragmented and uncertain, the themes of hope and resilience are very important. As Maya Angelou eloquently stated, “Difficult is a far cry from impossible. The distance between these two lies hope. Hope and fear cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Invite one to stay.” Her words encourage us to choose hope and to foster an environment where positivity and possibility thrive. At BMCC, we strive to embody this spirit through our actions. Our commitment to education, inclusivity, and student empowerment reflects our belief in the transformative power of hope.

Students, you demonstrate day in and day out that resilience is not just a word; it’s a lived experience. Despite juggling multiple responsibilities far beyond your academic pursuits – holding down jobs, raising families, navigating financial constraints, and overcoming personal hurdles, you persevere.

The resilience of our faculty and staff is equally inspiring. Your dedication to our students, commitment to academic excellence, and ability to adapt and innovate in the face of adversity are the pillars upon which BMCC stands.

This Easter, let us embrace this spirit of hope and resilience. Let us remember that even when things become increasingly challenging, we have the strength and wherewithal to endure. As a college community, we have proven this statement true time and time again.

Let us celebrate the victories we have achieved, both large and small, and look forward to a future filled with possibility and promise. Let us continue to support each other, to lift each other up, and to work together to create a community where everyone has the opportunity to prosper.

Have a happy Easter! And thank you for being a part of this extraordinary community.

Walk in purpose.

Sincerely,

Dr. Anthony E. Munroe
