BMCC Names Michelle Hernandez Assistant Vice President of Communications, Marketing and External Affairs in the Office of Public Affairs

BMCC Community,

It is my great pleasure to welcome Michelle Hernandez as Assistant Vice President of Communications, Marketing and External Affairs in the BMCC Office of Public Affairs. In this leadership position, she will provide strategic vision and direction for BMCC’s public and external affairs and enhance the visibility and reputation of the College.

In November 2023, Dr. Hernandez was awarded a Doctor of Professional Studies in Business with a concentration in marketing from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. She earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Long Island University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology from Rutgers University.

Prior to joining BMCC, Dr. Hernandez served in executive roles as Director of Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs at NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull in Brooklyn, New York, as Director of External Affairs at the Helene Fuld College of Nursing in Manhattan, and as Director of Development at Urban Health Plan, Inc., in the Bronx.

At BMCC, Michelle will lead marketing and communications efforts in support of the College’s degree programs, departments and centers, as well as support the BMCC mission, strategic plan, and brand position. She will also serve as a trusted advisor to the Office of the President in managing executive and crisis communications.

In short, AVP Hernandez will serve as a valued strategic partner to BMCC leadership, faculty and staff and help drive awareness of BMCC among diverse local, regional, and national audiences of prospective students, academic peers, and business community partners. Michelle can be contacted through the Office of Public Affairs in Fiterman Hall at or 212-220-1238.

Join me in welcoming this important member of the BMCC Cabinet and executive leadership team.

Thank you.
