The Art Foundations program in the Music and Art Department at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) and the Shirley Fiterman Art Center are excited to present an annual exhibition that features the artwork of close to 300 student artists working in a wide range of mediums.

An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, April 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Shirley Fiterman Art Center, and the exhibition will be on view through Saturday, May 11.

The artwork on display reflects student talent and artistic growth across a wide array of disciplines. To curate the exhibition, Studio Art professors selected student work from their classes in color and design, digital imaging, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture and 3D design.

The exhibition provides inspiration for aspiring student artists, who experience the public display of their work in a professional gallery setting. The Shirley Fiterman Art Center is a highly regarded art venue in lower Manhattan.

Many of the student artists featured in the exhibition major in one of two programs in the Music and Art Department; Art Foundations: Art History and Art Foundations: Student Art. These academic programs prepare students for baccalaureate studies and a career in the arts. They can earn either an Associate of Art (A.A.) in Art History, or an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Studio Art. Mentored by BMCC art faculty, students build portfolios for successful transfer to top art and design schools.

More information can be found on the Shirley Fiterman Art Center website.

Past exhibitions at the Fiterman Art Center have featured nationally acclaimed artists working across many disciplines and putting forward a diverse range of world views.
