Public Affairs Impact Report 2022

The Public Affairs Impact Report 2022 provides a brief overview of BMCC’s web article stories, media placements, readership engagement, press releases, event listings, videos, social media and advertising reach.

1.Placements#Repost @cunyedu  ・・・ No college experienced the impact of 9/11 more immediately than @bmcc_cuny, whose Tribeca campus, just a dozen blocks north of ground zero, became engulfed in the day’s destruction and chaos and will forever be part of 9/11 history. Windows were blown out when the planes hit. Debris and dust filled campus buildings after the towers fell. Students and faculty, many covered in ash, scrambled to evacuate. In the hours that followed, first responders triaged survivors in BMCC’s main building, using medical supplies from the college’s nursing department, and the building became @theportauthority_ny_nj ’s command center. Late that afternoon, 7 World Trade Center collapsed and fell on Fiterman Hall, causing severe damage that eventually required the building’s demolition and gave BMCC the unfortunate distinction of being the only college in the United States to lose a building to terrorism. It would be a decade before a new Fiterman Hall was built.  #CUNY #BMCC #NeverForget
