Ira Epstein is a multimedia artist: A web designer/programmer, graphic designer, motion and sound maker, painter/illustrator and conceptual artist. He is a self-described “cross-roads artist” where elements have discussions and collaborate. The majority of his work has been visual, both screen-based and physical, often incorporating type, mostly 2-D, sometimes static, but often in motion. Much of it has been interactive.
He produces illustration, web sites, motion graphic/video presentations, print graphics, and work harder to describe. Including: multimedia/installation, web-video commercials with animation, album art, magazine and newspaper ads, catalogs, books, brochures, logos, and fine art. Online at www.iraworks.com.

Courses Taught
- This image-based course will introduce graphic design as the foundation upon which effective visual communication is built. Investigation of the elements and principles of graphic design will lead to specific design problems and their solution. The development of ideas and the ability to communicate them effectively will be covered. Discussion of both vector and bitmap-based digital graphic platforms will begin progress toward industry-standard computer proficiency.
- This course introduces students to the fundamentals of multimedia production. In a hands-on class, students will learn the essentials of program design and authoring software in an integrated computer environment. Students will learn how to combine graphics, audio and text to create programs for industrial and educational applications.
Course Syllabus - Students will learn to design and create motion graphics for multimedia, building projects appropriate both for internet applications and for film and video. Students will learn how to use a vector-based animation program such as Flash MX and animation and visual effects compositing programs to create original work. An emphasis will be placed on planning projects and developing narratives through the use of storyboards. Prerequisite: MMP 100 or MMA 100
