We are pleased to announce that Patty Baez has joined the Office of Compliance and Diversity as Deputy Director of Investigations, effective April 28. This appointment reinforces BMCC’s firm commitment to equity, inclusivity, and access for everyone. Ms. Baez has extensive experience in EEO and is a fervent civil rights advocate.
Previously, as Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion/EEO Officer at the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP), Ms. Baez developed and executed strategic plans that advanced diversity and inclusion within the agency. She collaborated with the Department of Human Capital to ensure fair and inclusive recruitment practices and has conducted thorough investigations into EEO complaints, ensuring that the cases were handled with integrity and impartiality.
Prior to her role at DCWP, Ms. Baez served as an EEO Counselor/Investigator at the New York City Department of Social Services. Her duties encompassed managing discrimination complaints and providing agency staff with guidance on EEO policies. In addition, she served as a Confidential Investigator at the New York City Department of Investigation, where she conducted sensitive investigations into misconduct and corruption.
Ms. Baez holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology/Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
