Voices of Students

Ximena Urrieta RosasHello everyone!

My name is Ximena Urrieta Rosas. I’m a Business Administration major, and this is my fourth semester. First of all, I would like to thank all of you for your time.

I will tell you a bit about myself. I was born in Mexico and later moved to the United States. I believe that’s when I first started to challenge myself. Learning a new language to communicate with people is something I’m still working on. So, when I started at BMCC, I decided to challenge myself by doing things that would help both me and others grow.

I knew that socializing would be difficult, but it was something I needed to do, so I joined a club. Later on, I wanted to continue growing, so I applied to become one of the club officers—and I got a position! Being in that role made me realize that we represent a community. It’s not just a title but also a responsibility.

We are the people students look up to. We are a source of help and support, but most importantly, we are friends. While in this position, we encountered some challenges that I believe could be simplified for the student body.

Growth is something I always strive for, so the following semester, I challenged myself to aim for a bigger role. However, when working with an amazing team, there is no “bigger” title—just different responsibilities.

This current role has opened my mind to larger issues and new perspectives, and I would like to continue helping students in any way I can. I believe in creating opportunities for others to feel seen, heard, and valued. As I continue on this path, I hope to inspire more students to take on challenges, embrace change, and become active members of their community.

Thank you again for your time, and I look forward to learning and growing alongside all of you!
