January 2025 Workshop: Asian American and Asian Diaspora Memoir Writing (apply by 12/20/24)

CUNY’s Asian American/Asian Research Institute (AAARI) is hosting a series of creative writing workshops open to all BMCC students.

Join award winning writer Bushra Rehman for a series of creative writing workshops and explore your relationship to this vibrant metropolitis we call home. Together, participants will generate new writing, practice revision techniques, overcome writing blocks and celebrate their creativity.

Workshop Dates: 1/7, 1/9, 1/14 and 1/16 from 11 s.m. to 1 p.m.
Revision Dates: 1/21 and 1/23
Reading Celebration: 1/30 from 7-8:30 p.m.

Bushra Rehman’s newest novel, Roses, in the Mouth of a Lion, is set in 1980s Queens and centers around the idea of friendship and queer desire. It was chosen as a Best Book and Editor’s Choice by The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, People Magazine, Buzzfeed, Ms. Magazine and more.

This is a free, non-credit virtual workshop series, open to all current BMCC and Hunter College students.
