Candidate for Senator

My name is Daliath Mansourou Alabi, and I’m a data science major in my second semester at BMCC. I moved to the U.S. from Benin, West Africa, just a year ago. Coming here was a dream come true, it felt like a fresh start, a chance to figure out who I am, learn new things, and grow. Back home, I thought school was the only thing I was good at, but deep down, I know I have so much more to offer.
I love helping people, it makes me feel like I am useful. Last semester, I volunteered at BMCC’s open house, and now I’m a student representative. But I want to do more. I want to dive into campus life and this new life in the U.S., especially since everything still feels so new and exciting to me.
For a while, though, I held myself back. I was insecure about my English and used it as an excuse for everything. Now, I’m ready to step up, challenge myself, and grow. I want to serve others, learn, laugh, work hard, make friends, and find a community where I can be myself, where I feel accepted. I know I have so much to give, and getting more involved at BMCC feels like the perfect way to start.
One of my big goals is to get students more excited about campus life. BMCC has so much to offer, but a lot of students don’t even know about the events and opportunities out there. I want to change that. By spreading the word and encouraging everyone to join in, I hope we can make the most of what BMCC has to offer and build a stronger, more connected community.
I’m doing this for myself, too, because I know I have so much to offer, and this is my shot to prove it. I want to test myself, see what I’m capable of, and discover how much value I can bring to others or a project. I’m here to grow, glow, and help others shine—but I need your help to do it. That’s why I’m asking for your vote. With your support, I can make a real difference, not just for myself but for all of us at BMCC. Please vote for me, and let’s build a brighter, more connected campus together.
Sincerely,
Daliath Mansourou Alabi
