Guidance on Wearing Masks, Returning to Work

Dear BMCC Community,

BMCC continues to monitor developments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic with guidance from the CDC and CUNY. I hope you are all continuing to stay safe and healthy, especially as we prepare for celebrations and annual events. Here is some information and helpful tips to assist you.

INFORMATION ON TESTING
Random testing MUST be done at CUNY sites. To help contain the spread of COVID-19, CUNY is conducting regular testing of a random sampling of BMCC community members. If selected for random testing, you must comply. You will receive an email from no-reply@cleared4work.com with detailed instructions. There is no appointment necessary for random testing, and you must choose from 19 CUNY sites to get tested. The closest site to the BMCC Main Campus is located at Fiterman Hall (81 Barclay Street (Café External Entrance), NY, NY 10007). Hours of operation are Monday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.; Wednesday, 2 p.m.–7 p.m.; Thursday 2 p.m.–7 p.m.; Friday Closed; Saturday 9 a.m.–2 p.m.; and Sunday Closed. CUNY Testing Program FAQs are available.

HELPFUL TIPS

  • Guidelines if you test positive for or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 regardless of vaccination status.
  • Guidelines if you are exposed to someone who has COVID-19 depends on your vaccination status.
  • Stay up to date with your vaccinations and boosters. If you need to get vaccine or booster you can use the NYC COVID-19 and Flu Vaccine Finder or call 877-VAX4NYC (877-829-4692) to find a vaccination site. BMCC students, faculty, staff, and all New Yorkers can get free vaccinations, boosters through the NYC Mobile Vaccination Bus which will be parked at the BMCC campus in front of the Murray Building entrance at 70 Murray Street, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24. PLEASE NOTE: This is not an official location for random testing issued by CUNY.
  • Wear a mask in public indoor settings. As shared in a recent message from CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, health officials recommend wearing a mask in indoor public settings. In addition, people over 65 and those at high risk of severe illness should also wear a mask in crowded outdoor spaces. Upgrade to higher-quality masks, including KN95, KF94, N95, or a cloth mask on top of a surgical mask.
  • Get tested. Testing is especially important if you have COVID-19 symptoms or were recently in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. You should also get tested before and after traveling or getting together with others.
  • Stay home if sick or tested positive. Follow all isolation and quarantine guidance, including wearing a face mask. COVID-19 is highly contagious. You can spread COVID-19 even if you do not have symptoms.

Please refer to the Getting Back to Working in Person FAQs for more information. If you have additional questions, please contact the BMCC Office of Human Resources.

Continue to stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,
