Re: Support BMCC and the Rebuiilding of Fiterman Hall

Councilman Charles Barron, Chairman of the New York City Council Higher Education Committee, and Councilman Alan Gerson, Chairman of the Lower Manhattan Redevelopment Committee will hold a joint committee meeting on Friday, June 20, 2008 to discuss the Mayor’s Executive Budget and its impact on rebuilding Fiterman Hall. The hearing will begin at 1 p.m. in the City Council Chamber located on the second floor of City Hall.

I urge you to join me and other college representatives at this hearing as we deliver the message to city lawmakers that the restoration of $78.7 million to rebuild Fiterman Hall is a priority budget request of our college and that to delay this capital project will have an overwhelmingly negative impact on our ability to serve students in the near future.

The BMCC delegation will meet at the college in the main lobby and walk to City Hall at 12:30 p.m.  The participation of every available student, staff, and faculty member will insure a large unified representation at the hearing.

I am looking forward to walking with you to City Hall on Friday, June 20.
