Health Services

The Health Services Office provides first aid treatment, evaluation of medical emergencies, and referral services on an individual basis when necessary. Health-related counseling can be done on both a walk-in and appointment basis. Any injuries or medical emergencies should be referred to the Public Safety Office at (212) 220-8080.

Throughout the year, the Health Services Office holds workshops on various health-related issues such as breast cancer, men’s and women’s health, sexually transmitted diseases, asthma, and heart disease. The office also sponsors an annual health fair each spring, with screenings for cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure, weight and fat analysis, as well as information about community health resources.

Body and Mind Initiative

Health concerns of all kinds can interfere with achieving educational goals. The Body and Mind educational support initiative is a collaboration between Health Services and the Counseling Center. The initiative offers students a space to obtain important information, gain insight, and learn valuable skills for healthier living. We will focus on stress reduction, problem-solving, and looking at how to make small changes to improve health (like sleep hygiene, time management, and behavior change). Interested students can register here. If you have any questions, contact Edi Peterson at epeterson@bmcc.cuny.edu.
