Dr. Manny Romero leaving BMCC

BMCC Community,

The summer is bringing record heat across our state, and I hope you are all staying safe and healthy.

As we prepare for the start of the 2022-2023 academic year, I am writing to share an announcement regarding one of the key members of BMCC’s leadership and family.

After serving 7 years as Executive Director of Public Affairs, Dr. Manny Romero will be leaving BMCC to serve as the Vice President of Communications and External Affairs at LaGuardia Community College. Manny’s last day will be August 19.

During his tenure at BMCC, Dr. Romero led his team in the redesign and upgrade of the BMCC website, the college’s branding and social media guidelines, and communications processes across divisions. Under his leadership, the Office of Public Affairs (OPA) enhanced the use of digital signage and marketing across the college, developed the BMCC Experts list, and amplified BMCC’s news coverage across local and national outlets.

Dr. Romero also played a critical role in providing communications, alerts and protocol updates (via email, digital communications and social media) related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the creation and management of the Re-imagining BMCC website.

I want to thank Dr. Romero for his dedicated leadership and service to BMCC. Developments regarding OPA’s leadership transition will be shared with the college as soon as they become available.

Please join me in wishing Manny much success in his new role at LaGuardia Community College.

Sincerely,

Anthony E. Munroe signature
