I am writing to share with you that Jim Berg, Associate Dean of Faculty, will be leaving BMCC, effective May 31, 2021.

During his tenure at BMCC, Berg has been responsible for overseeing a variety of programs including the Office of Research and Scholarly Inquiry, E-Learning and the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Scholarship (CETLS). Berg’s additional contributions to the college include serving on various committees in support of faculty development and research.

Prior to joining BMCC in 2016, Berg served as Dean of Arts and Sciences at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California, and Dean of Liberal Arts at Lake Superior College in Duluth, Minnesota. He was a founding director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at the University of Maine, and Associate Director for Grants Programs at the Center for Teaching and Learning at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. An active scholar who has focused on the work of Anglo-American writer Christopher Isherwood, Berg earned his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota.
