In his role, Barnet provided collaborative, team-based leadership by addressing issues regarding curriculum, assessment, and accreditation through regular meetings with the Provost and Vice President, Academic Services, and other individuals and groups within the institution, including deans and chairs. Barnet was also instrumental in providing guidance to departments and other divisional units concerning program evaluation and compliance with requirements of SUNY, NYSED, Middle States and other accreditation or regulatory bodies.

He also served as Director of Academic Planning and Director of Educational Partnerships at John Jay College of Criminal Justice/CUNY, Consultant to New Community College Initiative (NCCI); and as Director of Academic Programs in the School of Liberal Studies and Continuing Education (LSCE) of SUNY Purchase College.

Barnet holds a PhD in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University. He earned an M.A. in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Political Science from Reed College.
