May 20, 2002

Renee LaMotte will receive the Dean’s Award at Borough of Manhattan Community College’s Honors Convocation on May 28. LaMotte is originally from Trinidad.

The Dean’s Award is given to a full-time student graduating “with high distinction.” LaMotte is graduating from BMCC on June 4 with a 3.99 grade point average.

LaMotte studied retail briefly and then worked in the retail trade for a number of years before attending BMCC. Influenced by a course she took and by her mother and sister who were nurses, LaMotte decided to pursue a career in the health field. She enrolled in the health information technology program at BMCC because it involved patient care, high standards, and the sciences. After graduation, LaMotte plans to enter the Physician’s Assistant program at City College, so that she can be even more involved with patients.

She lives in Jersey City, New Jersey.
