BMCC’s Professor of Political Science Ron Rubin recently wrote an op-ed piece for The Jewish Press, which ran in conjunction with this year’s New York City Marathon.
In the piece, Professor Rubin mentions his book Anything for a T-Shirt: Fred Lebow and the New York City Marathon, the World’s Greatest Footrace (Syracuse University Press, 2004), which he has used to engage students in discussions of power.
In his lessons and in the op-ed, Rubin cites marathon founder Fred Lebow’s life and accomplishments as the topic of analysis by showing how Lebow’s identity as a Jew growing up in the Holocaust era shaped his role as marathon director extraordinaire.
