Albina Khasidova, who has served as interim director of the Office of Financial Aid at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) since March 2019, has been appointed director of financial aid, providing leadership for administration of CUNY’s largest financial aid program.

Also, in coordination with the enrollment services director, Khasidova will oversee the financial aid service experience for new and continuing students in the college’s Panther Station, a one-stop enrollment service center.

“I am looking forward to helping BMCC provide an open and welcoming environment that serves all our students and their families through a student-centered campus culture, one that delivers clear and effective communication, customer focus and mutual respect,” Khasidova says. “As director, another priority I have is to ensure that students have access to the necessary resources to remove financial barriers as they seek to access quality higher education.”

Khasidova came to BMCC from the International Culinary Center in New York City, where she served as director of financial aid and provided leadership in administering financial aid programs and implementing federal and state regulations and policies.

Before that time, she was the director of financial aid at Touro College, where she managed federal, state and private financial aid and scholarship funds, as well as coordinating financial award packages and evaluating individual circumstances that might impact on a person’s ability to pay for college.

As director of financial aid at TCI College of Technology, Khasidova supervised training for frontline staff providing financial aid services. She also oversaw federal and state disbursements and administered the financial aid programs.

At Interboro College, where Khasidova was financial aid director, her responsibilities included developing action plans in response to internal and external financial audits. Another accomplishment was to develop a motivational working environment ensuring that the Student Financial Aid Department provided the highest level of service to all students who used its services.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics at the National Economic University in Uzbekistan, Khasidova moved to New York to pursue a career in finance, and focused on higher education.

“I like working with the students, thinking of ways for them to reach their academic goals even if paying for college is a challenge,” she says. “I believe everyone should have the chance to attend college and reach their academic and career goals.”
