BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center Presents Monk in Motion: The Next Face of Jazz

The BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center is proud to present three previous finalists in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. This year’s performers — Orrin Evans (pianist/ bandleader, 1999 finalist), Charenee Wade (vocalist, 2010 finalist), and David Gibson (trombone, 2003 finalist) — will perform three concerts with their individual bands on February 4, February 18, and March 4, respectively. Each evening begins at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $30 for each concert (students/seniors $20). All performances will be held at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, 199 Chambers Street (Between Greenwich and West Street) in Theatre 2.

Monk in Motion: The Next Face of Jazz is a partnership between BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center and the Thelonious Monk Institute that typically presents current winners from the renowned Annual Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition.

This year, we are presenting three previous and prominent Thelonious Monk Competition finalists who have achieved success beyond the competition. Each concert features one winner and their combo from various parts of the world, demonstrating the versatility and variety of different jazz styles.
