The BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center is proud to kick off the 2018-2019 season of Person Place Thing, a podcast and radio show hosted by Randy Cohen, on Monday, October 15 at 7 p.m. in Theatre 2 at 199 Chambers Street. Cohen’s interview guest will be Roundabout Theatre Company Artistic Director/CEO Todd Haimes. Live music will be presented by the band Big Mamou.

Tickets are $10 and available online, at the door and by phone at (212) 220-1460. 

Person Place Thing is recorded at various locations around New York. Guests talk about one person, one place, and one thing that are important to them. The result? Surprising stories from great talkers. The show is taped and broadcast on public radio throughout the Northeast (WNYE, 91.5 FM in NYC). Person Place Thing is also available online.

Randy Cohen [shown right], creator and host of Person Place Thing, is know for his humor pieces, essays and stories in The New Yorker, Harpers, The Atlantic and Young Love Comics. He won three Emmys as a writer for Late Night With David Letterman and a fourth Emmy for his work on Michael Moore’s TV Nation. For 12 years he wrote “The Ethicist,” a column for The New York Times Magazine. In 2010, his first play, The Punishing Blow, ran at New York’s Clurman Theater and his most recent book is Be Good: How to Navigate the Ethics of Everything

Todd Haimes, legendary Roundabout Theatre Director

Todd Haimes joined the Roundabout Theatre Company (RTC) as Executive Director at age 26. He became the Roundabout’s Artistic Director in 1990 as well as CEO in 2015. Haimes now sits at the helm of a virtual theatre empire that includes three Broadway theatres (the American Airlines Theatre, the Stephen Sondheim Theatre and the Laura Pels, an Off-Broadway house). He serves on the board of ART/NY, and has taught Theatre Administration in the Graduate Program at the Yale School of Drama and the Graduate Theatre Administration Program at Brooklyn College, CUNY. Haimes was honored with a portrait at Sardi’s Restaurant on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.

Big Mamou: Presenting live music throughout the show

The Person Place Thing October 15 show will be highlighted by Big Mamou, a band from Montclair, New Jersey described as a cosmic Cajun and country collision. It features country singer Julianne Ausum Fenhagen and upright bassist Jim Fenhagen, as well as Cajun aficionado John Sherman on accordion.
