On Wednesday, February 19 from 5 to 7 p.m., a reception in the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) Shirley Fiterman Art Center at 81 Barclay Street will celebrate faculty artwork showcased in a new exhibition, “Group Dynamic: BMCC Art Faculty Show.”

The exhibition, which will be on display through March 28, will showcase traditional painting and sculpture, installation work, experimental photography and works employing new media.

“The Faculty Art Show is an annual highlight for our department,” said Professor of Art Sarah Haviland, who serves as faculty gallery committee co-chair with Professor of Art Peter Xico Greenwald. “We are proud to present the work of so many talented professional artists — including new participants each year — in a great variety of media and styles. It is very important for our students to see the work of their professors, to know that they are serious practitioners in the fields they teach.”

In tandem with the exhibition, a BMCC faculty music recital will take place on Wednesday, February 26 at 2 p.m. at the Shirley Fiterman Art Center.

BMCC students of the faculty artists include those who are enrolled in the Art Foundations program in the Music and Art Department, and are working toward an Associate of Art (A.A.) in Art History or Associate of Science (A.S.) in Studio Art. At the end of the Spring 2020 semester, an exhibition of student artwork will be presented in the Shirley Fiterman Art Center.
