E-learning is a flexible and exciting way to learn. You will log-on to Blackboard during the time of day that suits you best. Most of your coursework, including class participation, is completed through the Internet.
Reading, writing, and time-management skills are critical to your success as an e-learner. E-learning courses are not any easier than face-to-face courses. In fact, they require self-discipline and the ability to work independently. Before you register for the first time, you will complete an e-learning readiness assessment to help you decide if it is for you.
The following modes of E-Learning delivery are available at BMCC:
A course in which the delivery of content is distributed between online and face-to-face instruction. At least 33%-67% of the content is provided in an asynchronous online instructional environment with the remainder of the content delivered in a face-to-face format.
A course delivered via the Internet which is 80%-100% online. Some online courses may require campus meetings for orientations or exams. Face-to-face meeting requirements are listed on the schedule of classes.
A face-to-face course which meets on-campus for all scheduled classes. The course utilizes Internet resources on a regular basis to enhance and extend the classroom for instructional and learning enrichment. Faculty may not substitute class meetings with online instructional content.
You must be admitted to BMCC before registering for an e-learning course.
Each e-learning course is the equivalent of the course we offer in the face-to-face format. Each course carries the same number of credits, covers the same subject matter, and is taught by a member of the BMCC faculty.
All students must have a GPA of 2.0 or better in order to register for an eLearning course.
