Yadira Perez Hazel is a Bronx native who completed her Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Virginia and her B.A. in Anthropology and Latino Studies at Cornell University.A She has taught several courses and conducted research projects on topics related to race, immigration, land, diasporas, nation, gender and public health in the Caribbean, USA, Japan and New Zealand. She is currently working on an Oral History project with the Tenement Museum to capture the stories of longtime Latino residents of Lower East Side.A
