I earned my PhD in biology in 1994, with a specialization in neuroscience. After graduating I did academic research focused on the dopamine receptors at Rockefeller University, and on taste receptors at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. I also had the opportunity to work at a small biotech start-up company on taste biology, and at a large pharmaceutical company as part of a team studying biomarkers of depression that might help match patients with particular antidepressant therapies.

Currently I teach as a part-time faculty member at New York City College of Technology, and NYIT), at BMCC, and at FlexSchool in NJ. I have taught a variety of different biology courses (general biology, microbiology, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, molecular biology). I have also taught an interdisciplinary science course at NYIT.

I am a nature-lover who prefers to be outdoors as much as possible. I enjoy gardening, hiking, and walking my dog. When I get the chance to travel (especially to warmer places), I love to snorkel or scuba dive, and to explore the rivers, mountains, and forests.
