Professor Teixeira earned an MA in mathematics specializing in probability and statistics from City College, CUNY, an MS in mathematics at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University, and a PhD in mathematics education from the Steinhardt School of Education, New York University.

As part of the University’s Coordinated Undergraduate Education Project, Professor Teixeira collaborated with the office of academic affairs and colleagues to implement a program called “Mathematics across the Curriculum” (MAC). The objective of this program is to have faculty integrate quantitative reasoning skills in their various disciplines.

Professor Teixeira also collaborated with his colleagues in the mathematics department to create a quantitative reasoning course for students. The objective of this course is to show how mathematics is applied in everyday life.

Publications

Professor Teixeira was part of the AMATYC writing team that recently published “Beyond Crossroads, Implementing Mathematics Standards in the First Two Years of College.” This publication communicates standards and principles for the teaching and learning of mathematics in two-year institutions. He has published and presented on the subject of Quantitative Reasoning.

June, 2007: Professor Klement Teixeira was been appointed chair of the Mathematics Intensive / College Mathematics Committee by the American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges (AMATYC).
