Professor Teixeira earned an MA in mathematics specializing in probability and statistics from City College, CUNY, an MS in mathematics at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University, and a PhD in mathematics education from the Steinhardt School of Education, New York University.
As part of the University’s Coordinated Undergraduate Education Project, Professor Teixeira collaborated with the office of academic affairs and colleagues to implement a program called “Mathematics across the Curriculum” (MAC). The objective of this program is to have faculty integrate quantitative reasoning skills in their various disciplines.
Professor Teixeira also collaborated with his colleagues in the mathematics department to create a quantitative reasoning course for students. The objective of this course is to show how mathematics is applied in everyday life.

Courses Taught
- This course covers basic statistics, including: measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, graphs, correlation, the regression line, confidence intervals, the significance of differences, and hypothesis testing, including z-tests, t-tests, and chi-square tests.
Prerequisites: MAT 12, MAT 14, MAT 41, MAT 51 or MAT 161.5
Course Syllabus - This course covers statistical concepts and techniques with applications. Topics include probability, random variables, the binomial distribution, the hyper-geometric distribution, measures of central tendency, the normal distribution, precision and confidence intervals, sample design and computer projects.
Prerequisite: MAT 206 or MAT 206.5
Course Syllabus - This course provides an introduction to the concepts of formal integration. It covers the differentiation and integration of algebraic, trigonometric, and transcendental functions. Topics include the definite integral, the antiderivative, areas, volumes, and the improper integral.

Professor Teixeira was part of the AMATYC writing team that recently published “Beyond Crossroads, Implementing Mathematics Standards in the First Two Years of College.” This publication communicates standards and principles for the teaching and learning of mathematics in two-year institutions. He has published and presented on the subject of Quantitative Reasoning.

June, 2007: Professor Klement Teixeira was been appointed chair of the Mathematics Intensive / College Mathematics Committee by the American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges (AMATYC).
