An experienced legal counsel and business executive, Professor Basic has worked in the private, non-profit, and government sectors in New York, New Jersey, Oregon and Washington, D.C., and has undertaken pro bono work for new media companies and community initiatives.  In the wake of the events of September 11th, she spearheaded a successful non-profit communications and networking initiative and website for the downtown community called Voices of Lower Manhattan.

Given her experience and her profound belief in giving back to the community, Professor Basic elected to marry all of her interests and decided to share her experiences with BMCC students through the pursuit of an academic career teaching at Borough of Manhattan Community College in the Business Management Department where she teaches both business and criminal justice courses.
