Over a long and varied career, Alexander Polakov has worked extensively as a graphic designer, a graphic design instructor, a furniture designer, and a journalist primarily focused on subjects related to graphic design.

Alexander Polyakov was born in Russia, and grew up in St. Petersburg, the city built by the best European architects, that immersed Alex in its beauty and rich cultural heritage. Alex studied at two famous Russian schools, Serov’s Art School and the St. Petersburg Theater Arts Academy.

After Alexander came to New York in 1993, he continued painting, as well as making theater decorations (scene painting) and interior designs. He also started making wooden toys and nutcrackers.

Alexander’s artwork has been displayed by many galleries in Europe and America, most recently having been showcased at the National Arts Club in New York City. His paintings and toys have been recently sold through House Edelweiss in Texas, Zyzyx Gallery and Moriah Gallery in Maryland, and Christian Ulbricht’s personal collection in Germany.
